A Little History into Oddstory:
Under the streets of Chattanooga lies the buried ruins of a city long ago claimed by the wild, untamed waters of the Tennessee River.
Time and time again, raging flood waters swallowed up immense portions of this beloved city. As the river’s wrath continued to invade, local officials vowed to solve the issue. In the late 19th century Chattanooga’s street level was raised, turning many of the ground floors into a soon forgotten sub-level city. Evidence of this buried past is dotted throughout the city. Half submerged windows, doorways, and spires that peek out from below the first stories of historic buildings. These oddities beg the question- what lies beneath?
This mysterious tale of our city’s history captivated us and sparked inspiration for the brewery’s name. Our beers are named from elements of folklore, history, or mythology, mirroring the tall tales shared by beer drinkers for centuries. Whatever form they come in, we believe stories matter.
Check Out the Taproom:
Throughout history beer halls hummed with life. They filled the air with laughter, banter, music and were seen as the social hub in the local community. OddStory is a modern spin on this concept. A safe haven for beer lovers to relax, drink, and dine.
In lieu of televisions we have plants overflowing from the walls. A reprieve from modern distractions with a touch of nature tended to by Emily Boyd, Jay’s wife and our resident artist and Creative Director.
Each summer plants propagated from our established collection are for sale in the taproom. This allows visitors to bring a living embodiment of the OddStory experience with them into their homes.
