McKamey Animal CenterName Your Price Adoption Fees – MAC CLEAR THE SHELTERS • McKamey Animal Center is excited to announce its latest adoption special and participation in Clear The Shelters, NBCUniversal’s nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign. Clear the Shelters, which will be held during the month of August, has helped more than 700,000 pets find new homes since its 2015 inception. To support Clear The Shelters, Hill’s Pet Nutrition will provide adoption kits* to help new pet parents and their pets get a healthy start on their new life together. Kits containing starter bags of Hill’s science-led nutrition, coupons, pet-parenting tips and other supplies will be available at McKamey Animal Center, and other participating shelters, during the campaign. McKamey Animal Center is taking the event one step further to celebrate – MAC will have a “Name Your Price” adoption fee for the duration of the event for all adoptable animals. This special fee does not include collars, leashes, carriers, city licenses, etc. Adoption fees typically range from $50 to $300 dependent on the animal, age, and breed. Humane Educational SocietyClear the Shelters • Animal shelters across the country are once again teaming up with NBC and Telemundo stations to find loving homes for pets in need with the Clear The Shelters pet adoption and donation campaign. The stations’ month-long “Adopt & Donate” effort features virtual pet adoptions and ways to donate online to participating shelters and rescues. The campaign runs from Aug. 1 through Aug. 31, 2022 • What Is Clear The Shelters? Chattanooga Guided Adventures Nickajack Bat Cave Sunset Kayak Tour • Join us to see endangered grey bats begin their nightly hunt for insects! The Nickajack Bat Cave and Wildlife Refuge in the Tennessee River is the summer roost for up to 100,000 of these animals.  These tours run from late March to early October. Enjoy a 3-mile paddle around Nickajack Lake to the cave entrance during which you may be lucky enough to observe such local treats as osprey and bald eagles. Take in the thrill as thousands of bats leave the cave at dusk. Reflect with your new friends about the dangers white-nose syndrome poses to the bat population and its impact on the ecology of other species in the area.
