FAUN FABLES have been trailblazers of avant-folk/original music since the turn of the century; known for exquisite, visceral songs & live shows and the occasional theater piece.

Their work became internationally widespread by 2004 with the DRAG CITY RECORDS debut FAMILY ALBUM;  the group has seasonally toured grass roots, night club, theater & festival circuits in the USA, Europe, UK, Israel & Oceania.  Their new album, ‘COUNTERCLOCKWISE’ marks their eighth album with the label, officially released May 2025.  The songs and production offer the most encompassing, richly lived-in sonic world of all their releases. Their timeless ‘songtelling’ practice is entwined with a holistic view of a life in music – celebrating the mundane details of home and family, elevated by a mystical and fantastical perspective. See/hear the first single, EMBER BELL*

DAWN McCARTHY’s voice (which THE NEW YORKER described as “one of the more compelling instruments in contemporary music”) opens hearts and minds from a whisper to a rallying battle cry into her mythical world, animated by the adventurous musicality and vocals of partner NILS FRYKDAHL (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum).  Their daughters, growing up alongside the writing, recording and touring since babies, now join them with additional vocals, flute, keyboard, bass and percussion.  The first leg of live shows in the States this summer will feature the elemental guitar work of Norwegian musician Arild Hammerø;  who can be heard on EMBER BELL and other tracks of ‘COUNTERCLOCKWISE’. Faun Fables are currently based  in Nevada County, California.

Barking Legs Theater

Barking Legs Theater’s mission is to enhance the community by cultivating and mentoring diverse artists, presenters, and audiences in an accessible and creative environment. We envision a sustaining artistic renaissance in Chattanooga marked by diverse participation and elevation of the human spirit. As a center for artistic exploration, we are a leading community resource, empowering people to discover their talents, broaden their horizons, and become active participants in shaping the future. We value diversity, creativity, freedom of artistic expression, development of artists, respect, accessibility, education in and through the arts, collaboration, and community. We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the work of contemporary performing artists in the Southeast and beyond. We are committed to supporting and presenting work that challenges the barriers that inhibit new growth and exploration and that push outside the prescribed boundaries of the performing arts. We seek to serve the community through outreach programs, arts projects, and classes. Barking Legs an intimate concert hall and performance venue that has established a reputation as a great place for musicians and listeners alike. We are known throughout the Southeast as a venue with great acoustics and remarkable intimacy. Barking Legs is a listener’s dream, where each note and word rings clearly, promoting the sort of rapt attention impossible in the typical club or barroom setting. Performers love it! Our 76 fixed seats all have great sight lines and we can accommodate overflow crowds up to 150. And if you’re curious about the name, its origin stems from the “bark leggins” that were worn by scouts and woodsmen of the Appalachian region in the last century.
