Tenille Townes writes songs that reach out to anyone trying to make sense of a complicated world. Born in Canada and now based in Nashville, her heartfelt and introspective songwriting has helped her build a deeply connected, global audience drawn to her honesty and emotional clarity.
Over the past five years, Townes has reached major career milestones, including touring with legendary artists such as Stevie Nicks, Miranda Lambert, Shania Twain, George Strait, Keith Urban, Reba, Zac Brown Band, and Dierks Bentley. Her work has earned widespread recognition, including two JUNO Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards, and 17 Canadian Country Music Association Awards.
Breakout songs like “Jersey on the Wall” and “Somebody’s Daughter” helped make Townes the first female artist in Mediabase Canada history to achieve two No. 1 singles. Her debut album The Lemonade Stand won Country Album of the Year at the 2021 JUNO Awards, followed by Masquerades in 2022, a project that leaned further into vulnerability and reflection.
In 2022, Townes toured across Europe and the UK and later embarked on a 3,000 mile train journey through Southern Canada, playing 65 shows in 15 days in support of local food banks. Songs written during that experience became Train Track Worktapes, an EP recorded in the train’s caboose.
Now entering a new chapter, Townes is preparing to release her forthcoming album in 2026. The lead single, “Enabling,” explores the delicate balance between compassion and self preservation. Written during a period of transition, the album is her most stripped back and introspective work to date, offering songs that make room for growth, boundaries, and the courage to choose yourself.
